This week Sally Russick of the Studio Sublime is standing in some no fun computer headaches, so I’ll start by wishing a nice tech cleansing for her. ugh. But the party goes on! We are focusing on where we stand this week, quite a big question, really.
My studio. You can see the floor!
I’ve been cleaning slowly but surely and it’s falling into place. This little spot is the tightest, I have to turn sideways to squeak through to my chair at the top of the frame. I wrote about the ridiculousness of this oval table back in week 12. I have taken those last twenty weeks to “organize”. Seriously, it seems like I just take things out, look at them, and re-sort them into different containers in slightly different locations. Or I decide if I move it I will never be able to find it again.
I shot a quick spin around the room with my iPhone, but honestly, I think that just showed me I should use a tripod to make sure I don’t actually make you sick with a spin around my room. Instead, here are a few stills looking ahead from this spot. Someday I will get to a proper studio tour.
The curtain on the far right is covering the closet that is, would you believe, even more full. It’s madness, but it’s all mine. While it can be a little visually overwhelming to stand in this spot, it is the passageway to all kinds of great things, I’m one lucky girl!
Let’s see where everyone else is
Ah! love your studio - and when I get home I really should clean mine too :) Congrats on organizing yours!
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky the room I've taken over is much bigger than yours.. so I can move, although the floor is disappearing....but I know exactly what you mean about moving things from one container to another. However that being said I think I threw out at least 40% of what was in the bathroom drawers last week when I was emptying them post reno... which isn't really post reno since there is still no counter tops no flooring and the pantry shelves are wrong so can't but anything at all in it!
ReplyDeleteI have to laugh Emma....I think we all have about the same room! I just finished "redoing" mine...getting rid of some storage that didn't work, adding some that did and just getting rid of some things. It's amazing how freeing it is!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Lori, I think we all have the same issues...my "studio" is the dining room of our very small mobile home....I have my shelves, tables etc. AND I sit right next to the kitchen...sometimes that is good and sometimes not. But thanks for the great tour!

I love it Emma! Yup, we ALL have the same issues. I know exactly what you mean about organizing..sometimes it seems there really is no great place to store our treasures. Thanks for sharing.

"Organizing" my stash always leads to frustration for me, Emma... firstly because I resent the time spent, then in the "neat" version of my space I can never find anything LOL! Guess I'm a "Bless this mess" gal. My craft room/sewing room is actually a good-sized (11'x14') spare bedroom, but it has gradually accumulated extras from around the house that don't belong, so it may be time to bite the bullet again.
ReplyDeletei envy people with studios. It's not that we don't have the room, it's that the room is taken up with other stuff!
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky to have such a nice studio space. I think I have a bad case of 'studio envy'!
ReplyDeleteI know I could not take a picture of my feet on my studio floor...hoping to organize this month, thanks for the tour and inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI can just see the creativity brewing in all those great photos. What drives me crazy is looking for one particular piece - and having to search all my containers until I find it.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLove your space! Looks like a great place to sit down and play, er, I mean create!! :)
